I am a firm believer that how you start your day will dictate how the rest of the day will go. If I roll out of bed and wander into my home office in my pajamas, I can guarantee it will not be a very productive day. Now, that’s not to say I put on a full face of makeup each day before starting work, but I do make an effort to separate my home life from my work life so I can be fully focused on my to do list each day.
With everything that is happening within our industry and the world at the moment, I know it can be hard to find the energy to approach each day with energy and enthusiasm. Perhaps you don’t have the number of clients you were hoping for at the moment or your leads are slim. Whatever the case may be, if you can start your day intentionally, then I guarantee you will sail through your to do list and even be able to tackle some of those bigger projects you put off while you calendar was full.
So how do I start my day if I want to guarantee productivity? I grab my coffee and water and head into my home office. I close the doors to help separate my two worlds (although I leave one slightly cracked so our dog can wander in and out). And then I turn on my lamps, light a candle (thank you Homegoods for my never ending supply of seasonal candles), and I turn on some music. Movie scores inspire me and keep me focused, especially John Williams. If the Superman theme is playing in the background, you better believe I am accomplishing something big that day! After writing in my gratitude journal, I review my to do list and decide where to start for the day.
So what can you do to start your day with intention and allow you to focus for the day? How can you set the vibe in your workspace to make sure you can accomplish anything you put your mind to? Let me know in the comments how you set the tone or what you are going to start doing to help you feel more accomplished at the end of the day.
